Keep in mind that Disney has a wide range of hotels with varying prices from their version of value priced such as All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, and Pop Century Resort up to the deluxe resorts such as Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian among others. You can find much cheaper hotels off the Disney property but you will need to rent a car. The great thing about staying on property is you can get around totally by Disney transportation.
You can save money on souvenirs by buying them at discount stores like Wal-Mart. Of course, the quality may not be the same so you can probably only get away with this if you have very young children.
